I am thinking about getting a tattoo... I don't know if I want to get it before going to college or not.

But, eventually what I want is a sun, on my shoulder. What inspired me was when I saw a picture of a guy in a magazine with an outlined spikey sun on his shoulder...I like that one, or I might design my own after looking at all the different sun variations.

I found some symbolic explanations of what the sun means. I liked the idea of a sun because it symbolized many things. For me, when I first thought of it, it was meaningful because it symbolizes the eternal source and energy. And well, I am an energy addict, always looking for ways to improve my energy. Also, with my experiences with God, the energy and power that comes from him is symbolized in the sun. But here are some other reasons that I also really love. Especially the thing about being an individual and leadership and power.

The sun represents the centralizing force (or purpose) that sustains, integrates and gives design to our individual existence
The sun stands for the principle of selfhood
The sun symbolizes the will that is necessary to creatively participate in the greater whole
It means vitality, personal power, leadership and dignity
On a gravestone the sun symbolizes the soul rising to heaven
Most wideley, though, the sun represents eternal renewal, and the shining virtues of both truth and light

Makes me think that all of these things are things that are important to embody in myself, not just display as a tattoo before I even get one.

There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.
--Pablo Picasso
